MailChannels email filtering, both ways
MailChannels filters the email on our cPanel servers. Outgoing mail is checked and relayed so it reaches the inbox, and incoming mail is cleared of spam, phishing and viruses before it reaches yours. On cPanel web hosting both are already on; elsewhere, incoming filtering is $5.00 a month per domain.
What MailChannels does, in both directions
A shared server sends mail for many customers. One hacked site sending spam can get the server's address blocklisted, and then nobody's mail arrives. MailChannels stands between our servers and the rest of the internet, so that doesn't happen.
MailChannels checks every message on its way out of our servers and on its way in to your domain
- Out
Your site and mailboxes
Contact forms, invoices, password resets and everyday email, sent from our cPanel server.
- Filter
MailChannels
Spam, phishing and malware stopped; the rest relayed from addresses inbox providers trust.
- In
Your inbox
With incoming filtering, mail to your domain is checked the same way before it arrives.
Mail that reaches the inbox
Included on every cPanel plan we sell, with nothing to set up. How much you can send follows our Resource Usage Policy.
- Relayed for inbox delivery
- Mail from your site and mailboxes leaves through MailChannels' relay, whose reputation with Gmail, Microsoft and Yahoo keeps it out of spam folders.
- Checked before it leaves
- Spam, phishing and malware are caught on the way out, so one hacked contact form can't put the whole server on a blocklist.
- Compromised accounts found fast
- Sending is tracked sender by sender. A mailbox or script that suddenly sends spam is spotted and stopped before it hurts anyone else.
An inbox without the junk
Already on for cPanel web hosting. On reseller hosting and servers, add it to any domain for $5.00 a month.
- Spam, phishing and viruses
- Mail to your domain passes several independent detection engines before it reaches your inbox.
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC
- Mail that fails the sender's own authentication checks, or forges your domain, is turned away.
- Intelligent Quarantine
- Suspect mail is held, not deleted. A real sender gets a link to release their message, so it still reaches you.
- Daily quarantine digest
- Once a day, a summary of held messages lands in your inbox. Release a real one with one click.
- Safelists and blocklists
- Always accept, or always refuse, a sender or a whole domain.
- Log search
- Find any message and see what happened to it, which answers "where is that email?" in seconds.
What filtering saves you from
Email trouble rarely starts with you. It starts with a stranger's spam, a forged sender, or a neighbour's hacked site. Filtering keeps those problems away from your mail.
- Invoices and order emails landing in spam
- A server blocklisted because another site was hacked
- Phishing that copies your bank, courier or own domain
- Viruses in attachments
- Real mail lost to an over-eager spam folder
- Hours spent on "did you get my email?"

Submit a ticketWhat is MailChannels?
MailChannels is an email filtering service made for web hosts. MailChannels says a quarter of the 100 largest hosting providers use it. It filters mail going out of our servers, so it reaches the inbox, and mail coming in, so spam, phishing and viruses don't reach yours.
Is MailChannels included with my hosting?
On cPanel web hosting, yes, in both directions: outgoing and incoming filtering are already switched on for every account. Reseller hosting includes outgoing filtering, and incoming is $5.00 a month per domain. On cloud and dedicated servers, outgoing email is part of the server's price.
What does outgoing filtering do?
Every email your site or mailboxes send leaves through MailChannels. It checks each one for spam, phishing and malware, and sends the rest from addresses with a strong reputation, so your invoices, contact form replies and password resets reach the inbox.
What does incoming filtering do?
Mail to your domain goes to MailChannels first. It checks for spam, phishing and viruses and enforces SPF, DKIM and DMARC, then delivers clean mail to your mailbox and holds the doubtful ones in quarantine.
How much does incoming filtering cost?
It is included on cPanel web hosting. On reseller hosting and on cloud and dedicated servers it is $5.00 a month for each domain you want filtered, with no set-up fee. Open a ticket naming the domains, and we turn it on.
How many emails can I send?
On cPanel web hosting, up to 3,000 emails a month and 300 an hour. On reseller hosting, 3,000 a month for every $10 of your monthly bill. Cloud servers include 10,000 or more a month, depending on the plan. The Resource Usage Policy has the full limits.
What happens if I send more than my quota?
Mail over the monthly MailChannels quota is sent from the server's own IP address instead, and your MailChannels access is restricted, so it is more likely to land in spam. If you need more, ask us: cloud servers add blocks of 10,000 emails.
A real email was held as spam. What do I do?
Check the daily quarantine digest in your inbox and release the message with one click. The sender may also have had a link to release it themselves. To stop it happening again, add the sender to your safelist.
Do I need to set anything up?
Not on cPanel web hosting: both directions are already on. Outgoing filtering is also on for every reseller and server account. You only ask us to switch on incoming filtering for a domain where it isn't included.
